As an employer, owner or operator you may be required to deal with the 1999/92/EC Directive either directly or indirectly. It is often not obvious whether explosion risks exist and people can be unaware of their exposure to such risks unless an external source draws attention to it. As a result, projects submitted to these bodies can escalate in financial terms for reasons of miscommunication, incomplete files and the interpretation of issues in standards, resulting in additional time being needed and extra cost being incurred to clarify and resolve these issues. Lack of experienced staff within these bodies can also cause long lead times and less efficient assessment throughput.
